Senior Propulsion Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Advises airplane development projects and the current Boeing in-service fleet.
  • Develops and coordinates Engine Control system work statement.
  • Analyzes, prioritizes, plans, tracks, controls risk, and implements technical solutions.
  • Coordinates internally to meet system and airplane requirements across multiple functions.
  • Tests software and analyzes results.
  • Collaborates on certification of the engine control and thrust reverser systems.
  • Addresses and investigates fleet and production issues related to the Engine Control and Thrust Reverser System.
  • Provides support for safety and compliance investigations.
  • Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks in support of certification and airplane delivery schedules.
  • Communicates project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program Leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • 10 or more years of experience in commercial aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering work experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in Engine and/or propulsion control systems design, development, and certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Qualifications as US Federal Aviation Administration Unit Member(ODA-UM) or Designated Engineering Representative (DER)
  • Experience in product and operational Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Knowledge of Part 33 and Part 25 Federal Airworthiness Regulation (FAR) compliance for propulsion systems.
  • Experience with Engineering requirements development and design assurance
  • Experience with System Failure Hazard Assessments (FHA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA)
